Following Monday’s deadly tornado in the Midwest, local efforts to help those afflicted by the twister are underway.

Locally, the Red Cross and House of Bread International Church are teaming up to gather baby supplies, toiletries and shoes of all sizes.

Upper Palmetto Red Cross Chapter spokeswoman Anna Kate Twitty says Red Cross volunteers are working around the clock to help victims and their families.

300 volunteers from across the country are in Moore, Okla., including three volunteers from South Carolina.

Twitty says those volunteers are working hand in hand with first responders helping residents recover what’s left of their homes and businesses.

If you’d like to pitch in and help with relief efforts, Twitty says the best way is through a financial contribution at redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
