Sheryl Crow to Release First Country Album September 10

Sheryl Crow will release her first country album, Feels like Home, September 10 on Warner Bros. Records. The project will feature her Top 20-and-climbing single, “Easy.” Sheryl co-wrote each song on the album — a first for her — with writers including Brad Paisley .
Sheryl has been touring the country with her two young boys, visiting radio stations to play her new songs only to load the bus back up and do it all over again a few hours later at a different radio station. She recently told the Associated Press that it reminds her of a scene from Coal Miner’s Daughter, the life story of Loretta Lynn .
“It really is like the scene where Doo zips up Loretta’s dress and she runs in with her new acetate, her 45, and says, ‘Here’s my new record,’ and she plays something on air, shakes a few hands and leaves,” Sheryl told the Associated Press . “It really is a throwback to that and it’s the most organic thing I’ve done in years.”
It was a handwritten note from Loretta asking Sheryl to appear with her and Miranda Lambert on the 2010 CMA Awards that set Sheryl on the path to country music. When the performance was over, Brad Paisley met Sheryl backstage to encourage her to pursue country music. The message took hold and eventually, Brad helped her kick start her album, suggesting producer Justin Niebank and introducing her to songwriter Chris Dubois.
The album’s title, Feels Like Home, is a reflection of her personal life. She moved to Nashville seven years ago after beating breast cancer and has since adopted two young sons, Levi and Wyatt. Despite enjoying the laid back creative community in Music City, Sheryl is still followed by questions of her relationship with ex-fiance Lance Armstrong and what she may have known about his now admitted doping. It’s a part of her life she intends to keep private.
“The only thing I would say about Lance is that his story is completely his own and has nothing to do with my life, and so I don’t speak about it,” she said. “I was asked a question on a TV show once, which caught me off-guard, and I feel like I kind of answered it, and that’s all I can say about it. It really has zero relevance, and I’m sorry that people still want to attach me to that, but it holds no relevance to my life.”
Living in Nashville, Sheryl doesn’t have to worry about the paparazzi. She’s not concerned about putting on makeup before going out in public and can go to the grocery store without hassle. She’s also able to enjoy normal activities like church and gymnastic classes with her boys while also working with some of the most talented musicians and songwriters the genre has to offer.
“It wasn’t until I moved here that I realized what an amazing community it is,” she said. “It’s the thing I’ve been missing my whole career, the feeling of being able to sit around with a guitar and have people know each other’s songs and know songs from people who’ve influenced all of us. When I moved here pretty early on Vince Gill started calling me to do guitar pulls, and I thought, gosh, this is just like heaven on earth down here.”
