Pineville authorities have detained a Mecklenburg County man in connection with a threat on Facebook Friday afternoon against Nation Ford High School.
At 1:12 p.m. Friday, district officials and police issued a “soft lockdown” on the campus, meaning no one was allowed to enter or exit the building, while students, faculty and staff were free to move about interior of the facility.
Fort Mill Schools spokeswoman Kelly McKinney said the lockdown was issued at 1:12 p.m.
In a statement Friday afternoon from the Fort Mill Police Department, Major Brian Zachary said officers discovered the threat was believed to have come from a 19-year-old Pineville man.
Pineville police were notified of the incident and joined the investigation.
The man was taken into custody near his home in Pineville and Fort Mill police lifted the lockdown at Nation Ford.
Pineville Police Lt. Corey Copley said the man has not yet been charged, pending a meeting early next week with the District Attorney.
WRHI is not identifying the man because he has not yet been charged with a crime.
Fort Mill Schools spokeswoman Kelly McKinney said Nation Ford High School was the only school involved in the incident.
