ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp is in session this week in Nashville. Campers from around the country are in Music City to participate in a week of activities at the residential camp that has the dual purpose of studying Williams syndrome while providing music enrichment through performance and education.

On Monday, Jerrod Niemann and singer/songwriter Lance Miller were on hand to lead campers in a songwriting session. Together, Jerrod, Lance and the campers penned “Livin’ On Island Time,” an original song based on the campers’ personal experiences and inspirations.

Here’s some footage from the songwriting session:

Tonight the campers will gather at the Wildhorse Saloon with Lauren Alaina to share stories about their camp experience. On Wednesday morning they’ll have a recording session with Jake Owen and Ross Copperman and have a chance to record the original song they wrote with Jerrod & Lance. Later that night they’ll sing karaoke onstage with Love And Theft.

The campers will conclude their time at ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp with a Friday night performance at the Grand Ole Opry with Jerrod, singing the song they all wrote. The camp is a partnership between ACM Lifting Lives and Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
