Area lawmaker wants to raise S.C. gas tax

This year state lawmakers voted to borrow a half-billion dollars to repair roads and bridges in South Carolina.  However, State Senator Greg Gregory of Lancaster says the Palmetto State has $29 billion in road and bridge work that needs to be done during the next 20 years.  Gregory says the state’s gasoline tax hasn’t been increased since 1987, and a lot has changed since then.

Gregory favors raising the gas tax two cents a year for five years.
