County Manager finalists to be named July 31; final decision in mid-August

This time next month — there will likely be a new County Manager named in York County.
County Council met in executive session once again Tuesday night to further delve into the timeline of the search, later releasing a timeline calls for up to five finalists to be named publicly by next Wednesday, July 31.
Until now, the search has been kept confidential, as council met last week to narrow an initial pool of over 40 applicants down to nine.
Council chairman Britt Blackwell said this particular search process is much more successful than one earlier this year, where search firm Strategic Government Resources was fired.

Since then, Waters Consulting was hired to conduct the search. A representative from the company was present in-person for a special called meeting July 16.
All of the finalists will be invited to a meet-and-greet before the public and county council on August 12 at a location to be determined.
The next day, the finalists will meet with county staff and take a facilities tour before taking part in one-on-one interviews with council that night.
Those interviews will be conducted in Executive Session.
Council may opt to name a new County Manager as early as that night, Blackwell said.
But if council opts to delay that vote, a decision would then be made on August 19.
