A Rock Hill teen who ran away from his family was coaxed to safety Thursday night after hiding in a storm drain.

Around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, police say a 13-year-old Autistic boy crawled into a creek bed in the 500 block of North Confederate Avenue, with creek water swiftly moving by his legs.

The boy eventually retreated fifty feet into a drain pipe, and officers climbed inside to remove the child from the drain pipe.

A half hour later, he was pulled from the drain and checked out at Piedmont Medical Center.

A police report said the boy’s guardian was playing with his family at a nearby house when he became upset and fled the home.
