Travis Tritt will release his first album in six years, The Calm After…, on July 9 on his own Post Oak Recordings. An updated version of his 2007 The Storm, the release comes after a legal battle with his now-defunct previous record label. The title reflects Travis’ “clear skies.”
“I feel so humbled and blessed to be where I am right now,” he said. “My voice has never been stronger, I’m constantly playing and working to become a better guitar player, banjo player, vocalist and songwriter. I am honestly as excited about the creative process and performing now as I was the day I signed my first record deal.”
The album became available for pre-sale on iTunes on June 25 but fans had the chance to grab the album even sooner as it was available at his concerts. “As a thank-you to those folks who come out to see us and have always been there to support me, we wanted to give them the album a little early,” Travis explains. “I can’t wait for them to hear it.”
Travis’ 15-year-old daughter Tyler Reese appears on the album, singing with her father on the project’s first single, “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough,” one of two new tracks on the album. Released on Father’s Day, the song is a remake of the Patty Smyth and Don Henley hit.
Not included on the album is the live acoustic version of “Why Me, Lord?” which Travis performed at George Jones’ memorial service in May. The song is available on iTunes, however, following a strong response from fans.
