The Band Perry Conquer Language Barriers with Music

The Band Perry will kick off their first worldwide headlining tour, the We Are Pioneers World Tour, on November 8 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The trio will spend five weeks crisscrossing Europe before heading back to North America for dates beginning in January. They aren’t concerned about language barriers as they take their music abroad.
“I don’t really think there’s a lot of difference between playing for crowds in the United States and folks in the UK and Europe,” Kimberly Perry said. “Just a bunch of country lovers. The one interesting thing though, is that, when we played Scandinavia, there was a little bit of a language barrier.”
In one instance, Kimberly told a joke onstage that was meant with silence because the crowd couldn’t understand her. “It was kind of deflating for Kimberly,” Neil Perry said. “But Reid and I would laugh onstage just to make her feel better.”
While stage banter can be tricky, their music is received loud and clear, no matter where they’re playing. “Music is such a universal language,” Kimberly said. “Even when our language maybe isn’t as decipherable, I think the songs still speak.”
