Daimler site staying in Fort Mill; $46M expansion of Charleston facility underway

Daimler Vans announced Thursday a $46 million expansion of its facility in Charleston County, set to bring with it at least 60 new jobs to the Lowcountry.

But despite the company’s van division expanding in Charleston and the expectation of a new office facility coming online in Portland, Ore., employees’ jobs at Daimler’s Truck Division site in Fort Mill will remain intact.

York County Economic Development Director Mark Farris.

Earlier this week, a report published by the Charlotte Business Journal [2] indicated the company was abandoning its Fort Mill facility for that site in Oregon.

Farris says that’s simply not true.

Daimler’s expansion in Charleston is set to be complete by 2018.
