The last of nearly a dozen steel girders supporting the latest addition to the City of Rock Hill Law Center were put in place today. But just before crews hoisted the 20-foot piece of steel into place, nearly a dozen city and police officials signed the beam with a permanent marker. Hopefully, it’s one of the last times those signatures are ever visible.
The expansion, set to wrap up early next year, includes new office space for the city’s police department and court system. City Council approved the $1.7 million project in May.
“We just love to see construction in downtown Rock Hill,” said mayor Doug Echols.
A number of projects are underway in the city’s downtown corridor including a new park on what is now the municipal parking lot, the Downtown East project at the corner of Elizabeth Lane and East Main Street and the Knowledge Park development along White Street between Dave Lyle Blvd. and Winthrop University.Click to view slideshow.
