Mock fatal wreck stuns students at Sullivan Middle School

This week, area schools are celebrating Red Ribbon Week as part of a nationwide effort to educate students about the dangers of drinking and driving and drug abuse. Monday afternoon, students at Sullivan Middle School took part in mock drunk driving accident, getting to see their classmates packed up in body bags, and others in handcuffs.

Student victims donned fake blood and torn shirts to simulate what happens after a deadly wreck.

“We want to try to make it as real as possible….we saw a lot of children being covered up with sheets as we do in the first set when EMS arrives on scene,” said Robert White, Communications Director for Piedmont Medical Center’s EMS. “Getting in that body bag and hearing that zip, you know, sometimes…watch the kids’ expressions as that happens.”
