Taylor Swift is headed back to the big screen, reports Billboard. Taylor has joined the cast of The Giver, which also includes Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites and Katie Holmes. Other cast members are Alexander Skarsgard,  Odeya Rush and Cameron Monaghan.

The film, an adaptation of the young adult novel by Lois Lowry, stars Brenton Thwaites as Jonas, a young boy selected for the position of “Receiver of Memories.” He works with The Giver, played by Jeff Bridges, an old man who trains him for the role. Taylor will play Rosemary, The Giver’s daughter who previously trained for the same role as Jonas.

Mereyl Streep will play the Chief Elder, who assigns tasks, while Katie Holmes takes on the role of Jonas’ mother. The movie will be directed by Phil Noyce and is set to start filming October 7 in Cape Town, South Africa. It is expected to hit theaters on August 15, 2014.
