When Thomas Rhett isn’t onstage, he’s a pretty laid-back guy. But when it comes time to perform, he goes all out, putting on a show fans won’t soon forget. As the son of singer/songwriter Rhett Akins, its in his genes to be the center of attention.
“From the time I was five years old, when dad first bought our first video camera, I loved being in the spotlight,” he said. “I loved being that kid who was the annoying center of attention kid. I wish I could say that that’s changed, but I get out onstage every night and I soak it up. I love every single second of being onstage in front of people.”
As much as he loves performing, he still gets a few nervous butterflies before show time. “It’s more of just a ‘I’m too excited and I can’t contain it’ kind of nervousness,” he said. “I think I was just born to be onstage playing and singing.”
Thomas’ latest single, “It Goes Like This,” is in the Top 5 at country radio. He will release his debut album, It Goes Like This, on October 29.
