The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will offer a trio of special programs dedicated to Buck Owens and his band, the Buckaroos, on Saturday, December 7. The programs, which are in support of the exhibition The Bakersfield Sound:  Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and California Country, are included with museum admission and are free to museum members.

A panel discussion, The Buckaroos: Making Music with Buck Owens, will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the Ford Theater. Willie Cantu, the only surviving member of the classic mid-1960s Buckaroos lineup, current Buckaroos Terry Christoffersen, Doyle Curtsinger and Jim Shaw, Buddy’s son, Buddy Alan Owens, and Randy Poe, co-author of Buck Owens’ new autobiography, will participate. Music historian Scott B. Bomar will moderate. The program will stream live at countrymusichalloffame.org.

Next, at 1:30 p.m. in the Taylor Swift Education Center, Randy Poe will read from and discuss his new book, Buck ‘Em: The Autobiography of Buck Owens. The book was written from recorded stories Buck left behind when he died in 2006 and chronicles Buck’s life from his impoverished beginnings through superstardom. Randy will be on hand to sign copies of the book following the discussion.

The day will end with a Buckaroos concert in the CMA Theater at 2:30. Willie Cantu, Terry Christoffersen, Doyle Curtsinger and Jim Shaw will join Buddy Alan Owens as he performs hits made famous by his father. James Intveld, Jim Lauderdale, Angaleena Presley, Sunny Sweeney and more will also perform.
