Jennifer Nettles will be among the artists set to honor Carole King at the 2014 MusicCares Person of the Year. Scheduled for January 24 in Los Angeles the day before the GRAMMY Awards, Martina McBride, Dixie Chicks, Lady Gaga, Bette Middler, James Taylor and Steven Tyler will also perform. MusiCares provides support for people in the music industry in times of personal, financial and medical need.

Jennifer counts Carole among her influences. A song found on her upcoming solo album called “This Song is For You,” which she co-wrote with Sara Bareilles, has a very Carole-like vibe to it. “It feels definitely like a singer- songwriter type song,” she said.“Much of this album has a lot of a ’70s radio on it, and who better to emulate or be inspired by than Carole King.”

That Girl will be released January 14, featuring the title track.
