Officer, suspect injured in Fort Mill shooting

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was shot this morning in Fort Mill.

York County deputies were assisting in serving a warrant on Brookside Drive when the shots were fired just after 6 am.

Sources tells Channel 9 Eyewitness News that the shooting took place inside the home and that the suspect was also shot.

The officer was shot in the pelvis and his injuries are considered serious.  However, he underwent surgery and is in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center.  The suspect, identified as 31-year-old James William Lewis, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.
