Later this month, the Rock Hill School Board will be whittling its pool of candidates for the district’s next superintendent.

In January, search firm Coleman-Lew and Associates complied a list of 400 prospective candidates. On February 13, board members plan to review a list of 12-16 recommended candidates slimmed down from the initial pool.

Of those, board chairman Jim Vining said, interviews may be scheduled with any or all candidates.

Vining said while the school board has no official timeline for the selection process, the board plans to announce its next superintendent by April 1.

In August, longtime superintendent Lynn Moody resigned from the district to take a similar position with the Rowan-Salisbury, N.C. school system.

Following Moody’s departure, the district hired Charlotte-based Coleman-Lew in September.
