Kacey Musgraves pulls song ideas from her real-life experiences. Her latest single, “Keep It To Yourself,” was inspired by a failed relationship. While Kacey penned the tune, her mother actually came up with the song title.

“My mom, she’s always sending me song ideas,” Kacey said. “Here and there she’ll text me, and some of ‘em are doozies. But she had this one, she said, ‘Keep It To Yourself’ one day, and I thought that’d be a really cool song title. I typically don’t start writing sessions off with a title, but I brought it one day to Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, and they loved it.”

Kacey will make history by becoming the first country artist to perform at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York May 3. She is currently on tour with Little Big Town. “Keep It To Yourself” is at country radio now.
