Think you have what it takes to be America’s next country music star?
Sign up now for our next competition on Saturday, August 27 for our LAST Texaco Country Showdown Competition for 2011 … LIVE from the Sylvia Theatre in York!
The Texaco Country Showdown is America’s largest country music talent search. Now in its 30th year, the Texaco Country Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in communities all across America, and to offer these aspiring artists a platform from which to launch their professional music careers.
The Texaco Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local contests sponsored by radio stations all across the United States. Each contestant must begin by participating at the local level. Local winners will advance to their respective State competitions, where they will compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title, and the chance to advance to one of five Regional Finals. Regional winners will compete in the National Final held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The winner of the Country Showdown will receive the National Title and a Grand Prize of $100,000!
The Texaco Country Showdown is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, individuals, and groups of up to seven members who have not performed on a record listed in the national record charts (Billboard, Radio and Records, or The Gavin Report) within the 18 months preceding the local competition. To ensure fairness, a uniform judging system will be used at all levels of competition.
All acts* accepted to compete in our local Showdowns will receive a FREE limited edition, 2011 Texaco Country Music Showdown t-shirt! Winners of the local events will compete for the opportunity to advance to the state competition as well as the Grand Prize of $100 (plus free country music concert tickets), Second Prize of $50 and Third Prize of $25 plus free tickets to area venues!
There is a $20 entry fee per act (cash or money order only). First-time contestants must also submit a demo recording as part of their registration packet.
